Arrival in Los Angeles and departure for Vegas | LA & Vegas

First part of my trip to Los Angeles and Las Vegas, for the pictures and scenery, and not for the Casinos at all!

Day 1

Upon arrival at the airport, Emeric picked me up for this week dedicated to time-lapse photography and video.

Emeric le Bars is a professional photographer from Angers who moved to Los Angeles a few years ago and focuses on time-lapse and hyperlapse photography.

An example of his beautiful work (I recommend subscribing to his channel on Youtube):

Here are some definitions to raise awareness:

  • Timelapse: taking photos with intervals between shots, with the aim of creating a video that shows the passage of time
  • Hyperlapse: same elements, but changes between each shot

Then I would like to thank him because this week of study was so wonderful and rewarding for me.

Actually, we started by going to see the Hollywood sign, to start a very touristy activity.

So we went to his house, then shot a day/night timelapse first on the side of the freeway before doing it at night in downtown Los Angeles.

Then they moved into my Airbnb which made perfect sense, a caravan close to studios and parks, had an espresso machine on the patio, they even considered putting my name on a plaque at the entrance, in short it made sense.

The couple who run this place are so pleasant and we really felt that beyond just a business they would do everything to make you feel comfortable.

Day 2

On the second day, Halloween, Emeric decided we would go to Common Studios, a popular park.

Come to this famous place, the entrance fee is still 120 USD, without having to skip the line. Realizing that there were not many people there, we did not go, because it did not seem useful to us, and we were right. So, consider the queues and adjust your choice.

By the way, I bought two donuts from Voodoo Donuts, they were sugar free at first, which is quite unusual.

So I tried the maple syrup and bacon bar, which was great, and a large oreo/peanut butter bar. I would recommend the first bar, the second bar was pretty disgusting.

We started by doing the Harry Potter attraction, in 3D, which is completely non-threatening, and allowed me to stir the donuts in my stomach. I want to warn, for those who don’t like spiders or ghosts, or if you have small children, to weigh the pros and cons, because you will find yourself very close to those ingredients (which are actually wrong). It looks good, just the right amount of scary, but not everyone reacts the same way.

Then there’s a small roller coaster right next to it, 20 seconds max but still fun, still Harry Potter themed.

Then head to the world of the Simpsons, nonetheless in 3D with a lot of shaking, good too. Homer and his household are invited by the clown Krusty to check his attraction, however Tahiti bob takes management and tries to kill you by any means attainable. Put together for the luckiest second of your life given every little thing you’re avoiding!

In order that I don’t throw up my donuts, we then took a bit practice tour of the studios, which lets you see the faux units of New York, Mexican cities, and many others., the place actual movies had been filmed. You even have mini sights, with Jaws, a flash flood (as I advised you about in my presentation of my highway journey within the American west) and Quick and Livid.

After a pleasant little Cobb salad, we went to the large sights, not open within the morning, with a giant Jurassic Park splash which actually drenched me, and the mother, which is tremendous quick and begins right away. We did it twice in a row, and the second time we had been the one ones within the attraction, a luxurious.

A quieter second with the attraction of the minions, which may be very humorous in order that we are able to actually discover the humor of the movies. There you’ll be remodeled into a bit yellow man and you’ll work for Gru, with in fact a lot of adventures.

We went again to do Harry Potter, solely to have the attraction crash proper within the center in entrance of a 3D display screen. So it’s humorous, when it begins once more, you now not have the picture, however the seat nonetheless strikes in all instructions, so it’s unreal.

Then, we bought the cameras again to do one other timelapse on Griffith park, not the very best however it was a really nice second of calm.

Day 3

Get up peacefully, then have a full breakfast at iHop, a series open 24 hours a day that can fulfill everybody, since you may eat breakfasts in addition to important programs, at any time of the day or night time. night time. As a reminder, I found this chain throughout my highway journey on the east coast.

We went to shoot a day/night time timelapse in a not very fairly spot however with a lovely view, earlier than going to mattress early for the reason that subsequent day we had been leaving for Las Vegas!

Day 4

Departure at 11 a.m. in direction of Vegas, a straight and pretty empty highway, similar to what I’ve seen within the American West.

We cease to eat at The Behavior, which in keeping with Emeric is an “improved quick meals”. It’s true that it’s recent and never dangerous.

As soon as I arrive in Vegas, I notice that through the day, it’s not enjoyable, with out the lights and all of the trimmings…

We left our issues on the Airbnb, positioned removed from the strip since we had a automobile and had been going to maneuver round fairly a bit, and we got down to discover a first standpoint to do a sundown timelapse, however sadly we’re victims of the wind, and it’s tough to take secure pictures.

Since we had been drained (particularly Emeric since he drove), we went again to mattress. Continued right here.
