Located in New York, this cutting-edge building is designed for mixed-use. It houses Time Warner studios, apartments, shopping, workplaces, and the Mandarin Oriental resort.
Time Warner Middle has progressed
Time Warner Middle is located at 10 Columbus Circle in Manhattan. It is so large that it connects several neighborhoods (Midtown, Hell’s Kitchen, and Higher West Side). Its metal structure is completely lined with glass.
It took several years for this challenge to become a reality, largely due to jurisdictional issues between the host and the sponsor.
Construction finally began on November 2, 2000, and the grand opening took place on October 4, 2003. The challenge was assigned to architects David Childs and Mustafa Kemal Abadan of the firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.
The twin towers of the Time Warner Center are the main skyscrapers built after the 2001 attacks. Their similarity is interpreted as an American victory and an image of the spirit of resistance and fighting of New Yorkers .
Time Warner Middle by the Numbers
This building is designed for mixed use. The building occupies an area of 260,000 m² spread over 55 floors . In the basement we can find the Time Warner studio along with a CNN studio.
The lower part of the upscale area is occupied by a business center . “Outlets at Columbus Circle” is home to a food market, restaurants and quite a few fashion stores.
This business house can be present in a wide and long lobby, connecting the shops located in each tower.
A 30-meter-wide, 50-meter-high building connects the two twin towers. The Mandarin Oriental Lodge is located between the 35th and 54th floors. Finally, Time Warner Middle has a massive 6,000-seat performance hall managed by Lincoln Middle for the Performing Arts.
