About Sunken Meadow State Park
Sunken Meadow State Park is a 2.1 miĀ² state park located in the city of Smithtown in Suffolk County, on the north river of Long Island . The park is open year-round, from dawn to dusk, and welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
Sunken Meadow offers a complete program with a wide range of activities . During your stay, you can take a leisurely stroll on the long wooden promenade. The trails are well developed for hiking . Those who are more fit will want to tackle Cardiac Hill, reminiscent of some of the toughest times in the United States. Additionally, you will discover facilities for cycling and horseback riding .
The calm waters of this strait are ideal for indoor swimming. However, if you are looking for a thrill, know that water sports such as windsurfing and stand-up paddle boarding are widely practiced there.
The park also offers playgrounds, softball, and soccer . The golf course at Sunken Meadow State Park is suitable for intermediate golfers. Set in a hilly area surrounded by old growth forests, the course has 27 holes. Not far from the golf course, there is a bar and restaurant open to the public.
How can you get there?
Sunken Meadow State Park is located in the middle of Long Island, the only way to get here is by car and it takes at least 1 hour drive if you depart from midtown Manhattan.

Up to two pets are allowed in campgrounds and day use areas, until otherwise directed or prohibited.
Pets must be supervised at all times and kept in a cage or leash with a maximum size of 1.80m. Proof of rabies vaccination must be presented upon request by staff.
Pets are not allowed on playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, swimming pools, water play areas or guarded beaches.
